Head Of Sales & Marketing

DAYBREAK FOODS requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results-driven candidate to plan, direct, manage and be accountable for the overall performance of the sales and marketing division through formulation and execution of Daybreak Strategy in alignment with long-term growth and to deliver value to the shareholder. Ensures the adequacy of processes and controls that ensures the continued alignment with the Sales and Marketing Plan/Strategy.

Key Performance Areas

Strategy Formulation and Implementation

• Outline sales volume, market share, distribution channels and profit margins to guide promotions and sponsorships.
• Establish strategic alliances with the breed supplier and hatchery equipment supplier.
• Brand architecture development and activation.
• Innovations to maximise revenue of products.

Operations Management

• Establish internal guidelines for personal data protection based on applicable legislation, to manage customer data
• Monitor changes in the industry and leverage them for business opportunities
• Collaborate with members of the Marketing team to penetrate key markets
• Develop a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy to maximise sales opportunities
• Direct the Sales team in generating proposals that define a clear path to client satisfaction and revenue growth
• Investigate factors impacting sales performance and keep abreast of industry trends, market and competitors' activities
• Achieve budgeted sales targets (quantities and value)
• Manage the 3rd party agreement on marketing and sales and ensure that signed documents/contract are in place
• Ability to present company products and technical information to prospect and current clients
• Ensure payments of products by suppliers are up to date

Customer

• Establish customer relationship management (CRM) systems and guidelines to manage customer relationships
• Foster relationships with new partners to achieve desired revenue.
• Promote positive relationships with major customers to understand their needs
• Maintain a database and retention of customers
• Liaise with internal customers to ensure satisfaction with supply and quality of products

Financial

• Overall sale of new business and account retention
• Manage operational expenditure within approved budget
• Continuous improvement initiatives to reduce expenditure to below-budgeted costs
• Recommend changes in pricing structures in product lines or products
• Review sales performance by analysing performance reports
• Follow up on late payments for accounts

Risk, Governance & Shareholder

• Participate in forums to keep abreast of new changes in the industry and practices
• Provide advice when preparing bid documents and integrated proposals for key accounts
• Ensure that Daybreak does not engage in collusive tendering and price fixing
• Quarterly progress reporting on the mitigation/management of approved divisional risks
• Ensure complete implementation of internal audit risk findings and recommendations
• Compliance with all regulations relating to marketing and sales
• Ensure supply of quality product through proper liaising with plant manager, distribution manager, quality team, OHSE

People

• Influence senior stakeholders within customers' organisations and premier buyers in the industry
• Provide input on sales incentive structure and key performance indicators to help monitor targets
• Complete bi-annual all-staff engagement initiatives
• Conclude bi-annual performance management reviews in accordance with company talent management program
• Leads presentations for business development and is involved in meetings with key business stakeholders
• Motivates and ensure a highly effective team of sales managers
• Complete transformation initiatives as per annual divisional targets on marketing and spend

Education & Experience:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Management, Finance or any related field
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Sales and Marketing environment, which at least 5 years of those would have been at Senior
• Management
• Integrated Sales and Marketing experience in an integrated Commercial Poultry Production would be advantageous
